Winter: In general,if you visit Beirut during the winter make sure you carry anumbrella because it rains a lot, it is a little cold but notfreezing, only in the mountains above 850 meters altitude,expect morning ice if the night skies were clear withoutclouds and stars were shining, this is the rule, but if theweather is cloudy at night, most of the time no ice and ifthere is ice it will start to melt down up to 1500 meters .
Snow accumulations get thicker the higher you go up in themountains, snow thickness that can reach many feet if thewinter for a given year when it is too snowy, expect lots ofthunderstorms in Beirut and on the coastal areas closer tothe sea level for up to 500 meters mountainsaltitude during the winter, but the more you goup high in the mountains you expect snow storms.
And by the way, don't forget to take winter clothes with you,and get ready to go skying in the mountains of Lebanon!
Spring: In general, Spring of Lebanon isexcellent, not cold, not hot, no rain, no snow, perfect foroutdoors, still snow is melting in the mountains, so mountainsare usually a lot cooler than Beirut or coastal cities.
You might need some light winter clothes.
Summer: In General the weather in Beirut duringthe summer is hot and humid, I recommend a swimsuit for yourtrip, and car with an air conditioning, it comes very usefulwhen stuck in traffic in the sun, the weather in the mountainsis more comfortable, so if you are planing to visit in thesummer, make sure you get your apartment in the mountains whereyou can sleep very comfortably with a cool breeze at night, andthen hit the road down to the beach during the day, rememberthe air during the summer is more clean in the mountains, andlots of pollution around the coastal cities like Beirut, thesummer is always dry without rain all the way to third week ofSeptember where it starts to rain again.

Fall: In general, the fall in Lebanon is wet andcloudy, rainy, a little windy, this is the time when theweather get ready to enter in to the winter, but betweenOctober and November, most of the time you get couple of weekswith the kind of weather that reminds you the summer time thatjust past by, it is so funny that in Lebanon they call thatperiod of time: "a second summer", in some parts of the UnitedStates, especially in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland area..,they call the same period the Indian Summer (after the originalnative American Indians), and this is exactly the same periodof time, what Joe Dassin, the French singer meant in his mostfamous song: "L'été Indien" or "the Indian summer", by the way,it is a very beautiful song, I suggest you listen to it atleast once. |
